FAQ
I am not sure if I necessarily want to stay and drive in New Jersey. Do you only find local trucking companies?
No. We are dedicated to finding the right school that fits your needs--even if that is in another state. Whichever you decide, we can find you the best company in New Jersey or anywhere else in the United States. All you have to do is let us know.
I think I lost my CDL. What should I do?
Well, first of all you absolutely cannot legally drive before getting a replacement. If it was stolen, file a police report. If not, you will need to go to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission office and request a new one. You will be required to show proof of identity and pay $11 to get another CDL. Make sure you let the police know even if you lost it. This could help if someone found it and plans to steal your identity.
What are New Jersey's requirements that I have to meet before I can get my CDL?
To drive within the state of New Jersey, you have to be at least 18 years old. Once you've had three years of driving experience and are 21 years old or older, you can drive between states. You will also need a current New Jersey driver's license. They will also check your eyesight. You need to have at least 20/40 vision in each eye (glasses count) and be able to distinguish the colors red, green, and amber. And then of course, pay the fees and pass the tests!
Why do I have to go through an extensive background check to get a hazmat endorsement?
It is mandatory for the safety of Americans. They want to make sure you won't be a possible threat--terrorist or otherwise.
What is the easiest way to renew my CDL?
A lot of states require that you renew in person, but in New Jersey they send the renewal forms through the mail. Keep in mind that you will need to renew your New Jersey CDL every four years.
About how long will it take to take the driving portion of the test?
It takes about an hour to finish the driving section. You will have a safety specialist with you, and you might drive in either an off-road test area or on public roads.
How often do I have to get a physical exam?
It is required to get a physical examination every two years. I know it seems like a hassle, but it is mandatory.
